Coming of Age…Green Cleaning

It has become the new and rapidly growing trend in this country… “Going Green.” For this reason among others many businesses have turned to Green Cleaning in an effort to be environmentally responsible or at least seen as such. Green cleaning can assist businesses in trying to help the environment by bring less waste and by being more conscious of their describe the image choices. In addition, it is a health issue. We spend most of our time in doors and internal air quality is critical to our well being. For that reason we want to make sure our businesses and buildings are cleaned in ways that do not hurt us.

In the past the cleaning materials used were many times toxic because they were petroleum based and included a variety of toxic components. They cleaned well but also did untold damage to our environment and health. Chemical products give off harsh fumes and leave aggravating residues. Rubber gloves are required and it isn’t unusual to have a headache after a cleaning. Recently, many new brands of safe cleaning products have become available and are becoming more popular. In 2011, green product sales rose by 16%. Safe cleaners, made without petroleum include:

Politicians are also getting into the green cleaning game because of the public concern over indoor air quality. Many State Legislatures have enacted Green School Acts to promote health for children and teachers at schools. Cleaning services are providing a valuable benefit with their choice of using eco-friendly products.
