There are four reliable ways to fight smelly trash cans.
- Baking Soda – Baking Soda will work wonders at preventing odors. Sprinkle Baking Soda in the bottom of your trash cans or sprinkle it directly on trash and it will effectively absorb all odors. As an added bonus, Baking Soda is great for scrubbing out your trash can and further remove odors and smells that are caused by bacteria.
- Bleach – Bleach will also be effective in removing odors. Although Bleach has a strong odor of its own, it can kill germs and bacteria that are your primary cause of smells and odors. If you are going to use bleach, be careful when using it that it doesn’t damage the surface or finish of your trash can. It is important to keep work area well ventilated when working with bleach.
- Kitty Litter – Cat Litter in the bottom of your trash can will keep moisture and trashy odors from invading your home. Cat Litter absorbs odors and leaves a fresh scent in the vicinity of your trash can. Just spread a bit if kitty litter in the bottom of your can and after a week or whenever the cat litter becomes damp with moisture, you just dump it out and put in more.
- Dryer Sheets – Dryer Sheets make another great anti-odor tool for your trash. Toss a dryer sheet into the trash and stinky odors are a thing of the past. Even used dryer sheets will work as they still have plenty of ability to block odors. So if you do toss a used dryer sheet you are getting double your money’s worth.
Using these four methods for fighting odors in your trash
